2018 Ram w/Alpine

Post by grubby65 » Thu Oct 04, 2018 9:30 pm

I am looking at purchasing the RF DSR1 to install in my 2018 Rebel. The question I have, does the DSR1 totally eliminate the factory amp? My plan was to purchase a 5 channel amp and use it for the 4 door speakers and the sub while leaving the 3 dash speakers on the factory amp. Will this work?

The way this system works is by replacing the factory amp. When it comes out, the required t-harness plugs in where the amplifier was, and then we use that to connect to the DSR1.

Wiring it the way you're trying to wouldn't work very well. Because the OEM amp plays your chimes for lane departure and parking assist, you wouldn't have control over the volume of your chimes if you did it this way (some of them would be screaming loud or super quiet, while the ones running through the DSR would be adjustable).
