Compatibility - 2013 Mazda 3 w/Bose System

Post by squeaky369 » Wed May 02, 2018 8:53 pm

I'm looking at getting the Maestro RR with an Alpine ILX-207 for my 2013 Mazda with Bose.

However, unlike my other vehicles that I've used the Maestro RR in, it's not listing that it will retain the factory amplifier. I just wanted to double check before I purchased anything, does the RR (or any iDataLinks) support retention of the factory amplifier?

Thanks.

At this time, we aren't able to retain bose in this vehicle. For now, we just do steering wheel controls and add the gauges feature.

Well snap...

I'm guessing since the vehicle is discontinued and it's been 5 years, there's no chance of receiving support, is there.

Is there a particular reason why it's not supported? PAC has a model that will retain all functions, but I've always used iDataLink, and would prefer to continue using it.

It's not supported because we don't have a full t-harness solution for Mazda. At this time, we just offer a hardwired solution, which isn't as fully integrated as we need to do retention of more involved things, like Bose.

I was able to retain my bose system sub and all in my 07 MS3 by soldering some RCA connectors to some wires that I then connected to the speaker wires on the metra harness. The + wires are the tips and the - wires are the sleeves. I suggest using flexible cables and RCA connectors that do not take up much space as there is not a whole lot of space behind the HU. I actually ran the RR to the left side of the radio as that was really the only spot I could find for it. As for the sub, I assume it was retained because it's chained to either the rear or front with a built-in crossover. Therefore you don't get subwoofer control/volume but you can use the EQ's of your HU to boost the bass a bit. Hope this helps any potential buyers.

My setup:
2007 Mazdaspeed3
Kenwood DNX575S
Maestro RR
Metra 70-7903 Harness
