Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but searching in the forum didn't show me any results (n00b here, so maybe I didn't look hard enough).

I'm having exactly the same problem as the OP. I just installed my new Pioneer AVH-2440NEX today. The Maestro RR flashed well and everything worked great. Then I used CarPlay and, just like the OP, the steering wheel controls stopped working unless/until I turn the Jeep off and back on. As long as I don't use CarPlay, things work well.

Is there an updated firmware for the Maestro to resolve this problem? I just flashed it today, so I'm assuming that would have included the latest?

There is no firmware bug; this is an install issue. Remove whatever you have plugged into the W/R port on the pioneer, and the issue should be resolved.

Ugh! I thought I was so careful but looking at the schematics, that must be what I did.
But here's the question, then. The Maestro say to plug the data cable from the Maestro into the head unit - done, easy. It also says to plug the Audio Cable from the Maestro into the iDatalink 3.5mm audio jack on the head unit. I am sure I plugged it into the W/R port.

There's no other 3.5mm jack on the back of the radio. Where is it supposed to go? I'm looking at the Maestro instructions specific for my Jeep.

Clearly I'm missing something that should be obvious.

The audio cable gets plugged into the AUX port on pioneer radios. Pioneer dedicates that input to us when it sees an RR connected to the data port. Nothing should be connected to the WR port

I apologize for wasting y'alls time with my post. I knew from several other posts that plugging anything into the W/R port was a 'no no.' Yet when I was left with a cable with a 3.5mm jack from the Maestro, I plugged it into the only hole on the radio without thinking. Of course it was the W/R jack. Once I spent more time staring at the schematic of the back of the radio and re-reading what y'all have replied in your posts, I moved the Maestro plug to the Aux input and the W/R connector is empty.

As soon as I removed the W/R connection, of course everything seems to work great, including the radio's remote control, which wasn't working previously (and I'd assumed was a broken remote).

Thanks for your replies and patience with me - you guys have a great product!
Sorry again for not having just been more careful to start with.

Hi there. I just bought a new Alpine ILX-W650 radio and I seem to be having the same problem as the orgingal poster from 2017. Is it possible that this new Alpine radio has the same issue? Is there any kind of firmware fix I can do?

Thanks!

What is the firmware version on your radio? We're going to test this shortly to see what is going on, and will post an update here as soon as we know more.

The lead coming off the this plug... I can't tell what I'm supposed to connect it to. There doesn't seem to be a direct match up on the Ch1 Wire Harness. Could this be why my steering controls cut in and out?

If you're referring to the blue/yellow, it is not connected in this application. Like I said, we need to test this, so please be patient with us while we do.

Thanks for confirming. I just wanted to make sure I mentioned that in case that was maybe my issue. I appreciate your testing it. :D
