DSR1 issues with F-150 - not recognizing USB cable and bluetooth

Post by jasonmccown79 » Tue Feb 05, 2019 9:14 am

I recently started having bluetooth connectivity issues on my DSR1 with AFO2 in my platinum F-150. I looked online and saw there was an update available on the Rockford side and the IDL side. I first done the IDL update as listed on the website instructions, done the update and then successfully loaded the rockford update. I must have clicked a wrong option somehow because after the two updates my volume does not work and my bluetooth still won't connect. I have been trying to reconnect to the IDL flash but now it keeps telling me “Module not detected, please connect a module to your PC using a compatible RS-232/USB cable.”

I am able to go to the rockford updater and it recognizes the DSR1 as soon as I plug it up to my USB. I've tried about 5 different cables and none work now. I spent about 2 hours on the phone with IDL last night and still no luck. The module shows up in my printers and devices, I don't understand why it won't connect. Tech just said to keep plugging and unplugging till it works. I've done that at least 200 times and it's same result every time. This unit has a mfg date of August 2018 so it shouldn't be bad already, I wouldn't think. It's just odd that the Rockford side works fine on taking updates but it won't connect to the IDL side so I can re-flash. HELP!

If our site isn't detecting the module, make sure you close the DSR1 updater. One other thing to try is to copy the URL of the black maestro site, close and re-open the browser, and paste the URL into the browser so you go directly to the site instead of letting the maestro website re-direct you. Often times, that will force the module to detect on the first try.

I've tried literally everything. Won't connect on the black site, all apps are closed out, heck I even tried uninstalling the Rockford app as well. As of today I have made at least 500 attempts to get it to flash.

If you can, give us a call at the support number in my signature when you're in front of the computer. We can remotely access the PC, see your screen, and help you get it going.

The only windows based PC I have is my work computer and our IT department has a different version of teamviewer. All my personal laptops are Mac. I'm trying to come up with an alternate solution so you can remote in.

I’m finally getting Bluetooth signal to connect but I still cannot get the vehicle volume knob to control the volume I can only adjust through the perfect tune app. Am I missing something?

Is this when you have the app connected? Or at all times?
