No tire pressure display on 2007 CR-V

Post by DustMagnet » Wed Jul 17, 2019 5:00 pm

I have a Kenwood DMX906S installed in a 2007 Honda CR-V using the Maestro RR and the HO1 wiring harness.

This configuration is able to read all sorts of vehicle data (e.g. the Gauges display) but doesn't display the tire pressure.

As the features for this combination indicate pressure is supported I was expecting a display. I have tested this on the road after driving for 20-30 minutes as well, and I've not seen any numbers yet.

Am I mistaken about the capabilities/support of the car/Maestro/radio?

When you're looking at the vehicle info screen, does the door status show correctly when opening a door?

Yes, the vehicle info screen in the center of the gauge cluster correctly shows open doors.

I did try the software reset of the Maestro from the OEM Setup menus.

I checked the ODB-2 plug (car side) and there is a wire in both positions matching the wires on the Maestro's ODB-2 socket. According to the Honda pinout that's 6 & 14, e.g. CAN-high and CAN-low?

I guess though if the Maestro can get all the gauge data (speed, fuel, instant fuel efficiency, etc.) then it's probably not a connector issue.

We found a bug in the current version of the software and are working on updating. As soon as it is ready, I will let you know here.

I don't mean to cloud this topic, but perhaps this is related to the firmware bug (or not)...

I can't play video (from USB on this HU) if the key is in the ACC position, only if the ignition is ON. In the ACC position it reports that the brake is not set (it is).

I have sent a test firmware to your account for the TPMS. To get it, re-flash your RR, hit 'flash by user firmware', and select the firmware 'ADS-RR(SR)-HO1-DS (512) 1.5'. Select it, proceed with the flash, and let us know how it works for you. We will address the other issue you mentioned once we resolve the TPMS.

Success.

I flashed the test firmware to the Maestro RR unit and now I can see tire temperature and pressure, and door open states. I can also access the TPMS settings under the OEM Setup menu in the HU.

I have not set the tire locations yet, but I will do so later when I haul my compressor up.

Some notes:

1) Weblink Desktop could not flash this firmware, it failed to load the Makes information after the model year was selected. The Weblink Plugin for Internet Explorer was able to complete the task.

2) Door open state data is obviously being fed to the HU - I take it anything after that (how, when and where it's displayed) is entirely up to Kenwood?

1) The app may just be glitching; it's hard to say. Good to know you got it flashed.
2) You cannot change the appearance of the vehicle info page, because it is designed by Kenwood. However, you can turn off the pop-up notifications in the OEM Setup menu of the Kenwood.

Hmm, I don't get pop-up notifications for door opens - the only indicator is visual on the Vehicle Info screen. Maybe that's not a feature on my HU. I do have Door Alerts and Check Engine alerts set on on the OEM Setup. If that's not working as expected then I can contact Kenwood.

The only part of this that is Kenwood related is how it looks; the rest of it is controlled and coded by us. You will only get pop-ups for door alerts when you're moving. It's more of a safety thing than anything.

I'll be more than happy to also take the test firmware for a spin as we have similar issues. Firmware version 1.3 does work. Like the OP mentioned, there isn't a pop up of alerts with door opening. I did try that with car in motion. Only way to see door status is on the vehicle info page.
Also, I can't seem to be able to play media from factory USB port unless I use the Kenwood USB port.
I see no music when I choose USB Media input (both 1.4 & 1.3 versions) but the USB connection is able to charge my phone.

Now that I think of it, the pop-up alerts are not going to be present in this firmware; we only request the door status information when you're in the Vehicle Info screen, because the car is not constantly reporting it. We would constantly have to be requesting the door status data, and wouldn't be able to populate gauges or other data items at the same time.

We will likely put the firmware live within the next day or so. At that point, you can re-flash and it will give you the most up-to-date firmware.

Did the OEM USB allow you to pull data from your phone when the OEM radio was installed? It is possible that the 12 year old OEM USB port cannot read the data from a newer phone. Have you tried using a USB flash drive with music files on it to see if the OEM USB module can read that data?

The parking brake status is coming from the OBD2 port, which is not reporting until the ignition is on. We cannot generate parking brake output until we have the status data. If you want to get around this, you'd have to either bypass the parking brake or manually hook to the parking brake itself.

Noted re: firmware update release.

I should have clarified that I was using a USB stick with media on it and not a phone. The stock USB connection wasn't able to read data from phone, it only charged it. It was able to play media from a USB stick. That's what I'm trying to do and it's not working.
thx
