Of course, that's totally up to you. Though I must reiterate; we suspect that the communication issue is a Pioneer problem, as it only seems to occur with wireless carplay Pioneer radios. We have reported it to Pioneer, and they are unable to replicate it either. At the very least, both companies are aware of it now and are looking for the issue, but it is most likely that this issue would be fixed through a radio firmware update, not the Maestro.

Thank you Dara!

Hope Pioneer can take this issue seriously, it’s very inconvenient to users when this problem occurrs. Now many people have this problem in their car.

I can confirm that I also experienced the communications issue on the w4400nex and that 2.5 firmware version fixed it for me 100%. I suspect it is related to querying the Vehicle Settings when you go to them now instead of at startup.

Either way it has been several months and I have not had the communication issue since upgrading to 2.5. Every version before that I would get it 1-2 times a week every week.

I upgrade to 2.6 yesterday, only the first time put back RR to my car then didn’t have connection with W4400NEX so, I restart my car and get connected, after that I reset RR by HU, no communication issue so far, I will keep test it.

The only radio this occurs with are wireless carplay pioneer radios (the 4400 and 8400NEX). We put one of these radios in a vehicle and drove it for almost a month and were unable to replicate the issue. Because it only occurs with these specific two radios, it has to be an issue with the radio's firmware (all of the iDatalink radios- Kenwood, JVC, Alpine, and Pioneer all use the same firmware. If it was a bug in our firmware, we would be seeing this in the other brands, but we are not).

aghozzo,

Have you tried firmware v2.6 for RR? I had same issue before when my RR was in v2.2, few weeks ago I upgraded RR to v2.6 then I’ve never seen the issue again.

I thought the communication issue might caused by car setting scanning during start up and the new firmware seems scanning the car setting when you need it but not at start up.

Btw, my radio is W4400NEX.

I have had the same issue with the w4400nex on my 2017 Tundra. Today I just flashed the 2.6 on the Maestro RR keeping my fingers crossed this does the trick. Anyone else having continued success with the 2.6 firmware ?

I am still having success on 2.5+(on 2.6 currently). I haven't had steering control connection issues since the day I upgraded to 2.5 4 months ago or so. It has 100% fixed it for me.
