2016 Ford F-150

Post by nathanpc33 » Thu Oct 11, 2018 5:27 pm

Hello -

I went through Crutchfield and replaced my factory 4.3" Ford with Sync to the FTR with the RR module and a Pioneer AVH-2440NEX (I downloaded the latest firmware update from their website and installed it) I flashed the module to ADS-RR(SR)-F02-DS, version 1.04 (several times). Supposedly this should retain Sync controls.

I attached both the serial control cable and the 3.5 mm jack to the back of the stereo from the RR module, and had a Crutchfield Readyharness. (the video for the FTR installation is AMAZING, BTW!)

The steering wheel controls work for only the volume, mode change, forward/backward, and mute. the hands free calling and pick up/hang up do not work.

I can make a Bluetooth connection with my phone to the AVH-2440NEX, but the Sync functions don't work, and I can't make any hands free calls. I don't see that I can make a Bluetooth connection to Sync.

Any thoughts or help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Make sure that the audio cable that runs between the RR and the radio is plugged into the AUX on the radio, and that the W/R port on the Pioneer is empty.

Are you wanting to use Sync, CarPlay, Android Auto, or a mix of both? I recommend picking one system and using it exclusively, as Sync can conflict with AA and CP.

Dana- Thanks for the reply!

Can you clarify what you mean by the w/r port?

Is the audio cable the remote plugin that uses the 3.5 mm headphone style jack?

I have noticed the conflict between CarPlay and Bluetooth. I was hoping to use sync as it is hands free, but haven’t been able to ever make it work!

The audio cable is the all black, 3.5mm cable (with a black 3-pin connector on the other end).

There is a 3.5mm port on the back of the pioneer that has a label on it, W/R. Make sure there is nothing in it, and that the audio cable is in AUX.
