2005 grand Cherokee intermittent no sound

Post by White05WK » Thu Oct 10, 2019 10:25 pm

2005 grand Cherokee with amp Sony xav ax100.
Intermittent no sound. Checked and updated but no difference. Radio powers up fine but no sound from any input. Radio or Bluetooth or usb.
Thanks

So have you even had audio from the system after replacing the radio, or has it never worked?

Yes it worked fine for 6 months till I upgraded to maestro unit from the PAC unit. Nothing else has changed.
Thanks

did you connect the blue/white wire from the CH2 harness to the one on the radio's harness? That is the most common reason you would get no sound from the factory amplified system.

Have you tried reflashing the RR unit to make sure that the factory amplifier option was checked during the flashing process? Have you verified that you have audio output from the speaker outputs of the radio, going into the CH2 harness?

I would assume I have audio into it to the CH2 harness since I have audio most of the time. The lack of anything is the part that is intermittent and I have to turn off the Jeep and restart it 5-10 min later to get audio back again.
Hopefully it happens at a time I can check the audio output from the radio when it’s not playing anything but it’s random.

I will try reflashing the maestro unit and let you know what happens.
Thanks

Ok, I wasn't sure if the audio was out ever since you swapped to the RR or not. I couldn't tell from your first reply to that question. When you lose audio, to you lose other features as well, like the gauges, or steering wheel controls etc., or just audio?

Sorry I’ll try to be more clear.

Everything else seems to work. But I only tried a couple I’d the steering wheel buttons and a couple things on the head unit. So far it’s only loosing audio.
I have also reflashed and still the same.
Thanks

Try connecting the blue/white output from the radio harness directly into the blue/white input on the green 10 pin connector that plugs into the RR. Trying to bypass any possible bad connection or crimp in the CH2 harness.

We just released an update today for issues relating to factory amplifiers not turning on. It is version 2.5 and can be flashed live from our site and the desktop app as well.

I just saw this update lol. I just rewired the PAC unit back in and the problem went away. Not sure if it’s worth trying the update as I won’t have anymore harness to solder to if it doesn’t work.

We've had success with other people that tried the firmware. Up to you.
