No sound- have to turn the key twice for it to work

Post by Bronx1031 » Sun Jan 04, 2015 4:34 pm

2005 Dodge Durango which has steering wheel controls and Infinity system- factory amp.

install went smoothly with a Kenwood KDC-X399 basic bluetooth/USB/aux. unit. I got everything from crutchfield with adapters . Everything works most of the time.

When the car sits off for more than like 5mins, I have to turn the key on and then off and then on to get sound. Otherwise , the kenwood lights up and no sound.

Has any one else had this problem? Remember this is an older car and does not have data link to the radio. No onboard navigation of U connect.

Crutch is sending another but am curious if this is a software issue or just a bad box

We are aware of some chrysler vehicles having issues with the amp turn-on, and are currently testing beta firmwares to fix this issue. If you are interested in me sending you a beta firmware, send me a PM with your weblink user name and I'll see what we can do for you.

I will try the new firmware later today. Do I have to reset the box, before I flash the new firmware?

No, but it wouldn't hurt to reset it when you put it back in the vehicle.

Reflashed original box with firmware sent to my account. Worked for a first try, then next restart required a second key off and back on, to get sound again. This is the same symptom as earlier.
Crutchfield provided an replacement kit. flashed the replacement with the newer firmware and again... maybe sound, maybe not. Always, a key off, then back on restores sound. Steering wheel controls always appears to work, just the amp turn on is problematic.
Any new suggestions? Wife's truck and she's frustrated. She wants her old radio put back in now.
Please advise

We are testing on a CH2 vehicle (hopefully within the next few days) to recreate the bug and make a fix for it in the firmware. We had a hard time finding an amplified chrysler/dodge vehicle that we could get in for testing, but we are close to a solution.
