2016 passat r line gauges and airbag light

Post by Stevejenss » Sun Mar 17, 2019 10:53 pm

I have a 2016 passat r line with maestro rr and idatalink vw2. I have installed, almost everything is working few issues are.... 1. Its pre set to 2.0 motor and mine is a 1.8 , the gauges all work perfectly fine but my ocd wants it to know my car is a 1.8 tsi... (if i change the setting to 1.8 tsi it freezes the maestro and have to master reset the maestro and it goes back to 2.0 and works great) 2. The airbag reset button doesnt work on the stereo. I have it hooked up to a kenwood ddx375bt

First issue, after you set the motor to 1.8 go back and validate the PID's in the Maestro menu.
OEM SETUP>VEHICLE FEATURES>GAUGES>VALIDATE PID'S
Second issue, clearing the airbag
OEM SETUP>VEHICLE FEATURES>CLEAR AIRBAG INDICATOR

The response i get on my kenwood is please turn key to on position to continue. If the light comes back on see a dealer for service. I click ok and the message dissapears but the light is still on the dash.

When i follow your instructions and put the 1.8 tsi and then pid and go to view the gauges it shows up obd2: not responding error. I then have to maestro master reset and it resets to 2.0 and gauges work.

I have done both procedures as described and still have the same results. When i change the motor to a 1.8 tsi and go into pid screen it completes it and then when i view the gauges it says obd2 reader not available. I then need to click on maestro master reset.

When i click on the clear air bag box it does not clear the code

Honestly 2.0 and 1.8 shouldnt make a difference as we are only looking for whether its a turbo or non-turbo engine. but to be clear you are saying it works fine when selected as a 2.0 but not 1.8, what happens if you select 2.5?

As for the airbag light, if it walks you through and you are unable to clear the light its a indicator that there is still a fault on the line that needs to be fixed before you proceed.

That is correct everything works just fine with 2.0 being selected as motor and it goes to shit if i select 1.8. Thats not a biggy as you stated earlier just me knowing. In regards to the airbag everything seems to work with exception of clearing the airbag light. What suggestions do you have to remedy the issue?

Side note, on the vw2 harness the reverse camera rca has an aux cable with it, since the ddx375bt doesnt have an aux input i dont have it plugged in. Is it possibly that? Thanks

Again if it walks you through and you are unable to clear the light, its an indicator that there is still a fault on the line that needs to be fixed before you proceed to clear. check all airbag connectors to ensure they are properly seated and plugged in. if so, I'd visit a mechanic to have them scan it to see where exactly the fault code is originating from.
